EV Charger Installation in Montgomery County

Electric vehicle ownership in Montgomery County is growing rapidly, and a Level 2 home charger is essential for convenient daily driving. While a standard 120V outlet (Level 1) can add only 3-5 miles of range per hour, a 240V Level 2 charger delivers 25-40 miles of range per hour — charging your EV overnight while you sleep.

Every installation includes a thorough evaluation of your electrical panel capacity, a dedicated 240V circuit with the correct amperage for your charger, proper conduit and wiring to your parking location, and permit coordination with your local township. Many homes in our service area — especially those built before 2000 — need a panel upgrade to accommodate a 240V/50A EV charger circuit.

We handle panel upgrades and charger installation together as a single project, saving you time and money.

Got Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a panel upgrade for an EV charger?
It depends on your current panel capacity and existing electrical load. A Level 2 EV charger typically requires a 40-50 amp dedicated circuit. If you have a 100-amp panel (common in homes built before 1990), you will likely need an upgrade to 200-amp service to safely accommodate the charger. If you already have a 200-amp panel with available breaker slots, a panel upgrade is usually not necessary. During our free site assessment, we perform a load calculation to determine exactly what your home needs.
How long does EV charger installation take?
A straightforward EV charger installation — where the panel has available capacity and the charging location is near the panel — typically takes 3-4 hours. If a panel upgrade is needed or the wiring run is long (garage on the opposite side of the house from the panel, for example), the project may take a full day. We complete most installations in a single visit.
Should I get a hardwired charger or a NEMA 14-50 outlet?
Both options work well. A NEMA 14-50 outlet gives you flexibility — you can unplug the charger and take it with you if you move, or swap charger models without rewiring. A hardwired installation provides a cleaner look with no visible plug and is required by some charger manufacturers (including the Tesla Wall Connector when installed at 60A). We recommend and install both options based on your preference and charger model.
Do you install commercial EV chargers?
Yes. We install commercial EV charging stations for businesses, apartment complexes, and HOAs throughout Montgomery County. Commercial installations may include multiple charger stations, load management systems, and networked chargers that can track usage and handle billing.
